jake…jake…jake…where do i start with this guy? he sure kept me on my toes! he had quite the imagination and was so animated it made my job VERY easy! he was totally up for anything and everything, braving freezing cold water and even mud.
and he definitely kept me laughing!

nicely done, sir! best of luck in the modeling world
This is a continuation of the Jake and Stephanie post….dynamic super hero model duo!

Check back for their individual portfolio shots as well as a steamy dirty laundry trash the dress session!
I traveled to northern California a couple of weeks ago and had the opportunity to do a dirty laundry trash the dress session in an old growth forest. I LOVE shooting in new places like this! Don’t get me wrong, the southern Arizona deserts are cool and all, but a nice green forest…who could pass that up?? This is Mia and she brought along this pretty slip dress in the palest shade of taupe. I love how pure and simple it makes her look surrounded by the green of the ivy and other vegetation of this forest. Almost fairy like.

It was a cold and VERY wet Arizona winter day this past Sunday when I met models Jake and Stephanie for a jam-packed four hour shoot.
We started off downtown in the rain…

and by the end of the day we were miles south of Tucson… in the desert…in the mud…

with nothing but awesome-ness in between!
More to come soon!
Here are my poor boots after the mud session…

Two weeks from today I leave for Vegas to attend WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International). This is my first time attending this yearly event and I am very excited! WPPI is attended by over 12,000 photographers from around the world and is filled with classes, inspiration, parties (Airhorns and Lasers!), a trade show (like a kid in a candy store!!!), competitions (go PurpleNickel!!) and lots of other fun! In anticipation of all of the photographers I am going to meet during the week, I had my super-amazing graphic designer, Nadia Marks of Ready Go Paper Studio make me some super-duper business-card-ish-but-more-than-that-thing-a-ma-bobs.
They are cute little matchbooks that, when unfolded, reveal a years worth of monthly calendars, all of my contact info, and a fun little What the Duck comic.

I thought I’d take a little break from my photography and sewing and design work to share some random stuff about me as well as some photos through my childhood until now….

*I don’t do well with anything less than 10 hours of sleep and I don’t like to be awake before 9 a.m. no matter what time I went to bed.

*Speaking of sleep- I have been using the same pillow for 25 years! (eww…I know!) I’m very picky about my pillow.
My dad got me a new one a few years ago, which I like, so I use both now.

*I am one of 8 children, but I am an only child. Confused??

*I’ve only played one insturment during my lifetime and that was the clarinet in 5th grade. However, I couldn’t play and march at the same time, so I faked it!

*My favorite ice cream from Cold Stone is cheesecake but I HATE it with graham cracker crust added! It’s like eating sand! I add cherry pie filling and roasted almonds instead. YUM!

*The movie I’ve seen the most times in my life is Overboard with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel. I can watch it many times in a row and it never gets old.

*I HATE ROLLER COATERS! I’ve been on everyone of them at Disneyland once just to say that I did it, but I won’t do it ever again.

*I do not enjoy hiking at all even though I took a one week white-water rafting trip down the Colorado river and then had to hike out of the Grand Canyon. Eight miles…zig-zagging…straight up…alone.
Well, thanks so much for checking in on me and my photography blog. Come back anytime!
I need to give a huge shout out to the two crafty moms who made the items in my last photoshoot. I am a HUGE etsy fan and Sloan’s awesomely fluffy tutu was purchased at trentsmama’s store, and her super adorable hat came from 2crochetmama’s store. Thanks, gals! xoxoxo

I say this all the time, but, really, where did this last year go??? Seems like just last week when I was photographing Sloan’s newborn pictures. Now this little cupcake is turning one year old!

She is *almost* ready to take off and walk on her own!

Happy birthday, baby girl!
