happy halloween!
dancing in the streets
One of my photography groups, The Click, just got together for a unique shoot with dancers in the streets of downtown Tucson. What a neat opportunity to capture a frozen moment in time of their movements!

Here’s my brave friend, Casia, laying down in the middle of an alley while Max did leaps over her:

And my wonderful friend, Benjamin, who came along to carry my bag:

terrible two
My little nephew, Brennan, turned two recently and of course I wanted to take his pictures to mark this milestone. I envisioned a cute setup where he would wear rolled up jeans, no shirt, and hold a yellow ducky umbrella while someone off to the side showered water on him to make it look like it was raining. I know, I know….that’s alot going on for a two year old to handle!
Here is how the story unfolded…
I set up my “vision” with Brennan, and he wanted nothing to do with holding the umbrella, or having water sprayed on him, or even standing still, so his mom took the umbrella and showed him how to do it:

Then his big brother Evan showed him:

Then BOTH of his brothers showed him (I couldn’t help but to take pictures of the whole scene at this point!):

Somehow during all of this chaos the older boys had a pool toy fight:

So, finally, Daniel decided to put Brennan in a chair to keep him contained while I shot the picture:

When it was all over and everyone was soaked, Christa was drying off Brennan and I was able to snap these three pictures….the best of the evening!

The End!!!

arizona heart gallery
Last Sunday, my pal Casia and I had the privilege of taking pictures of an amazing family that consists of SEVEN adopted children!!! We are volunteer photographers for the Arizona Heart Gallery. Our cooperative mission is to take fun, personality-capturing photos of foster children and display them in gallery-like settings to help find them families. The organization is working on an adoption awareness calendar for 2009, and it was our job to document some older children who have been successfully adopted out of the foster system. I am not able to share the photos we took with you, but please feel free to visit the Arizona Heart Gallery website anytime!
more benjammin’ actions!
I wanted a faded photo look for the next action I wanted Benjamin to make…and he did it! Look at these:

This one below I also added his texture action and blended a picture of a cotton field with it!

Benjamin…you rock!!!
through the viewfinder
I’ve been intrigued for quite some time now at “through the viewfinder” photography. Basically you shoot through the viewfinder of an old camera using your modern digital or film camera to capture a unique in camera effect. I was actually going to try it the ‘hard’ way when I stumbled upon a photoshop shortcut! So exciting!!
Here are some images I made using this new found technique:

I think i’m going to make a whole wall grouping that looks like this! So cool!!
benjammin’s actions
My super-talented assistant and friend has been busy writing actions! I’ve been having fun applying them to past photo shoots and have decided to share the images with you…
This is from his texture action where I can combine any photo and then a photo of texture very easily:

And here is another fun one. I like how the staples in the texture image enhance the grasses in the original photo:

So many fun things I can do!! Can’t wait to try more!
