What type of photography do you do?
-I specialize in “Trash the Dress” art portraiture.  I also do high school seniors, engagement sessions, children and families.

The idea behind “Trash the Dress” session is based on “creation, not destruction”.  While the wedding day is all about romantic, heart fluttering portraits, “Trash the Dress” sessions are all about edgy, fashion inspired images that take place in unexpected locations and celebrate how amazing you look in your dress.  Many brides are choosing to create extraordinary bridal portraits after their wedding day when they can relax, let loose and revel in their new marriage.  Many even use their favorite “Trash the Dress” image for their first holiday card together as a married  couple.  Still other couples book a “Trash the Dress” session as a unique way to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.

I’m interested in doing a “Trash the Dress” session!  What should I know so that I can prepare for it?
-These sessions are my absolute favorite and my clients always have a blast during them.  The sky is the limit as far as creativity goes!  Pick any fun, funky, or unique location.  Of course wear your wedding dress, but maybe change it up a bit by adding a fun pair of red shoes or some with animal print.  I will honor your decision on how far you wish to “trash” your dress.  You may just want to get the hem dirty, just as you did dragging it around with you on your wedding day, or you may desire to push the limits and get wet or muddy!  You can wear your hair in anyway you wish, it doesn’t have to match your wedding day hair-do.  Accessorize in any fashion, from traditional bridal jewelry and head pieces, to colorful bangles and hats.  For your groom, he can wear a tux (if he has one), a suit, a shirt and tie, or even jeans.  If the two of you have something special or unique-to-you that you would want incorporated into a photo, please bring it.  Use your imagination!!  This is your opportunity to create one-of-a-kind, jaw-dropping art for your walls.

How soon should I schedule a session?
-I am often booked several weeks in advance.  Very limited sessions are available per month so please contact me early for scheduling options.

What is included in my session fee?
-Half of your session fee is due when signing your contract as a retainer fee and does not include any enlargements.  The balance of the session fee is required on the date of your session, prior to the photo shoot.  The session fee covers the photographer’s time during the session, image proofing, etc.

Where will my session take place?
-I work primarily on location and can meet you at almost any location in Tucson from Downtown to 4th Avenue to your favorite and unique spot.  There are lots of cool nooks and crannies around Tucson!  I am more than happy to travel to other locations outside of Tucson, but travel fees will apply.

How long will my session last?
-Each session can last anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3 hours.

How many photos will you take?
-During the course of the session, I will take anywhere from 50-200 photos.  The best photos are then edited, and artfully enhanced using e-kah-d magic, usually yielding between 15-25 proofs.

When will I get to see my proofs?
-You will receive a link to a personal online gallery where your proofs will be displayed.  You will receive the link within two weeks of your session.

How long do I have to order?
-Your personal gallery will be available for a set number of days.  Feel free to share it with family and friends and please order all prints you will be needing during this timeframe.  After that time, your gallery will expire and will no longer be viewable.  If you need me to put it back online, there will be a $15 reload fee.  Keep in mind that prices are subject to change at any time and you might encounter different prices when ordering pictures the second time around.  If you would like a permanent digital copy of the images, please purchase the proof CD.  Full payment for all prints, enlargements, albums and any additional items or services is required at the time of placing your order.

How are my photos printed?
-All photos are printed by a professional lab, ensuring the highest quality ink and paper standards.

How long until I get my order?
-Once an order is placed, you should receive your photos from the lab within three weeks.

What kind of light do you use?
-The kind that comes from the sun!  Nothing beats shooting photographs using available natural light.  Ask any photographer and they will tell you that photos taken with natural light have more vivid colors and appear truer-to-life than photos taken using artificial studio light.

I want maternity or newborn photos.  Do you do those?  And what is the best time frame for that?
-I certainly do take those types of photos, just remember that I still shoot primarily outdoors.  Maternity photos are best taken around the 32-36 week mark during your pregnancy.  Newborn photos are best taken shortly after birth, before two weeks old.  Newborn photos can be taken as early as 3 days old.  Tender moments and newborn pictures can be taken indoors by window light.

When taking pictures of children, what do you suggest they wear?
-Simple, casual clothing is best and it lets your child, not his or her clothing, be the star of the photo.  Please avoid busy patterns, character clothing and large logos.  Solid shirts with jeans, khakis or overalls work very well for boys.  Girls may wear dresses as long as they are fairly simple in color.  Sometimes hats, scarves, and bright funky clothing can be super cute for a few shots to highlight your childs personality.  Siblings and families should try to wear coordinating clothing if they are going to pose together.  For baby sessions, there is no clothing like no clothing at all!  Also, consider substituting a cloth diaper for a plastic one.  And although I do not limit clothing changes, I don’t recommend more than 3 outfits as childrens’ patience tends to be limited in regards to wardrobe changes.

What else should I bring with me if you are photographing my children?
-Please bring any toys, stuffed animals, snacks, or drinks that will make your child comfortable and happy.  However, to maintain the focus on your child, few “props” are used in the pictures.  But if there is a special object you would like your child to pose with, please bring it and we will work to incorporate it into a photo.

Anything else I should know concerning photographing my children?
-I believe that in order to capture your children’s many moods and achieve the most natural photographs, they should simply be encouraged to be themselves.  A typical session usually includes a variety of images, including natural smiles and spontaneous candids.

Any recommendations when it comes to engagement sessions?
-I like to use a lot of creativity with these and really bring out your fun personalities.  I recommend coordinating your clothing rather than matching exactly.  Plan to get a bit dirty- as I may pose you and your fiancé in interesting ways…you may even end up on the ground.  I really enjoy it when a couple comes up with fun ideas on their own for these too.  Think about highlighting where you met, or a shared hobby…something unique where your friends and family can say that a particular image truly captures the both of you perfectly!

I am looking for cool and amazing senior portraits.  Any suggestions on what I can do to make mine unique?
-Use your creativity!  Choose several different outfits that highlight your personality.  Make sure you have all of the accessories too such as jewelry, fun bags, hats, etc.  Bring items that are “you” such as your guitar, for example, your sport uniform, or even your pet!  Pick your favorite location or even a couple of them to ensure we get the variety you are looking for.  Just make sure you book your appointment enough in advance if you have a yearbook deadline.
